Empowering the Next Generation of Mental Health Leaders in Liberia

Access Gap

Liberia faces a severe shortage of mental health professionals, leaving most communities without access to care. Less than 1% of Liberians have access to mental health services, despite the reality that 1 in 5 Liberians experiences mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use.

Closing the Gap through Partnership

The Mental Health Peer Training Program, launched in partnership with Health Tech Liberia (HTL) and 4C Mental Health, is a bold step toward closing this gap. This innovative hybrid program equips youth and frontline workers with practical, evidence-based mental health tools to support emotional well-being, offer peer support, and identify early signs of distress in their schools, workplaces, and communities.
